HELLO CARI AMICI!
i break most unfortunate long silence to say,
ALL THE BEST FOR THE A LEVELS! (:
oh my goodness, doesn't time fly? it's really so ... wow. it's also a month to winter break, something that i can't quite believe as well. the weeks have been long with SO MUCH work, but at the same time, it doesn't seem all that long ago that everyone settled in, and that we were going around introducing ourselves with name, country (and description of location of said country, hahaha) every 5 seconds.
now, adesso, i am floundering in the huge mess that is my math extended essay, math portfolio, economics internal and being a social creature at the same time D: but we will all survive. i just learnt how to make Good Coffee, which tastes amazing to my coffee-loathing palate, and keeps me awake too! (: haha and my room is probably one of those with the highest chocolate concentration ever - my italian rooma (tizi) just went to emisfero (like a huge hypermarket place) and got us all chocolate aplenty. oh! this year, i live in foresteria with dorka (hungarian co-year) and tizi (italian co-year).
okay i retreat to my mess, in the hope of doing a mary poppins or something and sorting all that out ASAP. all the best, friends (: <3

Noting, with guilt, that this place lacks the photos which I promised, here's a really random sampling of photos from my first year at UWC (: I'm sorry the pictures aren't the prettiest or the most artistic, since most of them were the product of my awesome photography skills, but I supposed that they're better than nothing. Also, they really don't do justice to my first year at all, since there was so much more than just that, but ah well, I also supposed that they're better than nothing. ( photos! )How come the photos are so annoyingly small? Arrgh. Anyway, looking through all these photos (especially trying to pick photos from my existing collection) brings back memories, and it's amazing how much time it takes me to browse through all of them. Well, all I can say is, I'm so glad I have another year to go. And, for a more accurate picture of life in UWC, maybe facebook would be a better idea :P Okay friends, go back and study! Shoo, and all the best (:

Dropping by, in the middle of the end-of-year chaos! - I'm going to be back in Singapore on Monday afternoon! (: That is, if I remember my flight details correctly
- My room looks like a war zone, and I have to pack it into boxes. INTO BOXES! D:
- Lying on Fore lawn and chatting is awesomely nice.
- We have our final Asian dinner tonight! ): As usual, I'm frying rice. And Ami and I are making sushi! :D
- I need to go to the supermarket to get souvenirs and stuff. Hmm I wonder when that will happen
- It doesn't feel like I'm leaving from here in very much less than a week. And won't see so many people in the near future (and slightly more distant future).
Okay, maybe I should go and sort the war zone out. It's so embarassing! I didn't expect anyone but my room-mate to see it (haha and her section is more of a war zone please), but then I walked back into my room just now and saw notes from 3 different people (which means they walked in and saw my mess)!

Whoa, thank goodness, finally, pantingly, Easter Break is here! (: It isn't very much, basically we get Friday and Monday off in addition to the weekend, but still, it's a long long long awaited break! :D I really need to catch up on sleep and my sleep debt and all sometime. Not today though, because ... tadaa, I'm going to celebrate / experience the most holy Easter of my life in Trieste! It sounds kind of cool (spending it in Church with volunteers there who hopefully speak a bit of English, and elderly people in Trieste!), just I'm not sure how it's going to turn out for Earth and Stapor (my Thai and Cambodian co-years), who wanted to go and have a taste of Catholicism (which is really good and really cool, just that we'll be spending quite a bit of time in Church, and having masses in Italian and all. Ah well, it should be fine)
AHH FAINTED I think my handphone doesn't work! Sheesh. I've charged it and everything, but it can't switch on! Faints. Valentina (a member of the faculty who organised this thing) only has my contact number, now how? Grr nevermind I shall go and uh borrow a phone or something. Should go soon, because I have to get on the 6pm bus heh. Oh freak and I need to hang my laundry! It's so bad, I've been so super duper upside-down busy this week that I haven't done laundry in some time, and as a result I have to wear my summer wear (like er shorts and skirts) in spring, where the bulk of the people are still in jeans heh. Luckily the weather is getting much much much warmer and the sun is out, so I'm really thankful for that. Or I'll be freezing and looking like a complete retard, oops!
Okay maybe I should do the "update-on-my-life" thing later on, because my packing and laundry awaits, and so does the 6pm bus! Grr. Take care people! Enjoy the quasi long weekend and don't stress! (:
I still want to sleep! (It was such a drag getting myself out of bed this morning, sigh. And I feel like throwing away my 2 alarm clocks every morning haha - yes no kidding, I use 2 cos I'm scared I oversleep or something).
Happy Easter! Buona Pasqua! (learnt from social service! Speaking of which, after social service today, Max treated us to super nice gelato from this Gelateria in Monfalcone! YAY haha omg I'm exploding)
Peixian: Haha no this is from a dance festival that we had, when the Asians were performing an Indonesian dance of sorts. Most people can't really differentiate Asians from each other (in terms of country of origin, just as we have no clue about the Europeans), but that day, someone was telling me how it was quite obvious which people were from Singapore - because we were smiling like loonies thoroughout the dance heh. ENJOY SUNNY SINGAPORE KAY! And don't stress with all the mugging and all (: Ohoh and jiayou with band too! When is SYF?
Yingyan: KOALA MANTIS! :D Haha yeah further math is really kind of cool! The teacher is really v. interesting (he's this 70+ year old guy from Egypt, who gives lots of super funny anecdotes while teaching), and he likes to give us chocolate heh :D Haha omg deductive-logic-Yingyan, I'm writing my EE in MATH! O.O Hopefully I won't come to regret this while I'm doing it over summer. Everyone I tell that to goes -jawdrop- and "Good Luck!" or "Was that your first choice?" Anyway, how's life? Is it in super intensive IB mugging mode? Jiayou okay! And we must totally meet up in June or something and pig out a lot / enjoy the super a lot of free time haha!
Vionna: Wow pharm chem - reminds me of options haha. Jiayou a lot okay? How's life?! Busy? Haha I saw like 10 million emails from BLYC hahaha. Hope PW went amazingly, and CTs too (: Hmm regarding spouting Italian ... haha. A few days ago, during Italian, we were telling fairy tales to the whole class, so I did "The Rainbow Fish"! It was really cute and wen1 xin1 and all, but I realised at the end of it all that I was talking about "The Rainbow Peach (Pesca)", not "The Rainbow Fish (Pesce)". Chao ji wu di malu please! D: Haha okay that aside, take careeeeeee vionnaluah, and I will maintain your invisible invisible portrait really really well and talk to it 10 times a day! :D
Nicole: Can I not promise? :P Sigh eat more fruits! Fruit fruit fruit! If you eat a lot of bananas, will get diarrhoea, but at least not indigestion or something! JIAYOU FOR PW! Oh wait I realise that you've probably gotten it back already. HOPE PW WAS AWESOME! (: I'll be back in June for summer break (3 months leh!), and yes we must totally meet up kay! (Though you guys might be kind of busy mugging for the As?) Take care too, and have loads of fun (um and productivity - oops sounds a bit strange) too! :D OH BTW IMPT! What's your address? You moved house right? (The one I have is the Clementi one, which is probably a bit outdated)
|
Hahaha I think that now, people know Singapore as happy smiley land. Funny how that sort of fits in with our 4 million smiles propoganda thing :P
Anyhow, to end the drought of posts, here I am! Much has happened since I last posted, and there is just so much to do and arrgh I can't wait for tomorrow afternoon, when I will be quasi-free (except for skyping home and further math) :D WEEKEND, TI VOGLIO! It's so good, like tomorrow, I only have 2 blocks of lessons! (: I originally had 1 free block (out of 5), and then Cristina cancelled the Italian lesson tomorrow, and Economics turned into INA (International Affairs - when we get guest speakers instead of lessons. It's quite cool and the range of topics is super diverse). I'm super happy because my nightmare monster day (today) is over :D And nothing important is due tomorrow, I think (oh wait there's one), so I can sleep earlier tonight :D
Sorry this is random and disjointed - I'm really sleepy and can't really talk sense / type sense. Chachacha. Oh okay maybe I'll briefly outline what's happened in the last 5 weeks? (Omg 5 weeks?! Really doesn't feel like it - it's so strange how time is passing so super duper quickly) Okay there was Project Week (which I thoroughly enjoyed, really, I so want to go back to Hungary sometime - I stayed with Dorka and visited her family and extended family etc, and the life is really what I imagined European life to be, from uh storybooks or something), Orienteering Competition (haha we didn't get lost leh! Though we came in rather near the bottom, oops), MUN preparation (it's happening next Friday), eh what else? Heart attack I want to sleep. I should go and do my work then quickly go and sleep (: Will post soon!
In the mean time, TAKE CARE PEOPLE! JIAYOU for the remaining CTs (: And don't stress!

HELLO FRIENDS! (: Haha as usual, this is kind of belated, but I am back in Italia! :D (or have been since the 11th of January) The weather is pretty cold, but varies quite a bit from day to day. It's probably about 5 degrees or so outside (plus annoying cold wind - it's name is Bora) today, but a few days ago, it was -3, fainted! (That was when a group of us, or me, actually, got really excited over this small patch of ice that had formed on the pavement). Most unfortunately, it isn't snowing like a huge part of Europe is, but we did have a morning of "snow" maybe 2 Sundays ago? The "snow" melted before reaching the ground, but it was nevertheless a wonderful sight to wake up to. I didn't even need my alarm clock to ring multiple times before waking up!
Life now is very very much busier, and the annoying deadlines keep on coming and coming and coming D: Anyhow, I shan't complain too much because RJ is probably like that too, or maybe even worse. Okay scratch that, from the LJ posts that I've read, it's definitely much busier in RJ. Jiayou friends! Probably because of the work and many many other things to do, time goes super quickly. I don't believe it, we're already in the middle of February?! Ooh Project Week is coming up soon, and my super-nice group is going to Hungary! :D Basically, we'll be carrying out (multiultural) presentations and volunteering, going around Eger (Dorka's (my friend from Hungary - I'll be staying with her!) city) and Budapest etc. Am super excited please, even though this project week is kind of different from project weeks of the past (due to the lack of funds oops), in that groups don't really have that much of a choice of what to do during the week - everyone is just going to different places to spread the UWC ideals and raise awareness about the movement (which is interesting as well).
Hmm what else is happening. Oh! We went downhill skiing yesterday! (and will be going again next Saturday) It was super nice and now I can't move my arms and legs properly. As usual, my brain and limbs couldn't quite communicate properly (either that or my brain froze), so I pretty much fell my way down the hills haha. But it was so much fun nonetheless, and it's good that my limbs are still intact.
Oh regarding my address, it's [insert my name] - haha don't want to type here lest this place becomes google-able (hopefully it isn't already) United World College of the Adriatic 29 Via Trieste Duino 34011 (TS) Italia If you're bored and have nothing to do and want to make someone many miles away smile, do write! :D
Chachacha. How's life, friends? Vi voglio bene (I wish all of you well, in Italian), and jia lots of you for the week ahead / term ahead / year ahead! Don't stress and eat more chocolate :D Okay shall go now to work like a cow, or I will be dead meat tomorrow. Take care!

OMG I AM GOING TO EXPAND! EXPLODE! -faints- Haha I bet I have done this I-am-eating-too-much-and-will-get-fat rant a million times over, but I don't care I need to do it again! :O In addition to my massive daily carbohydrate intake (pasta, rice, bread - oh dear don't you feel fat just thinking about it?), yesterday was a particularly sinful day! It was Martin's (first-year, Slovakia) birthday, so we celebrated it with a GINORMOUS pizza (which left us unable to move for a long long while), Ole's (first-year, Norway) chocolate cake (which was soooo dense and soooo good) and Martin's tiramisu (the recipe was from Viviana (Italian teacher), who has super super good tiramisu)! AND, the night before (for the 12-midnight surprise thing), we had Toni (first-year, Bulgaria) and Ami's (first-year, Japan) berry pudding and vanilla cake, Ole and Martin's honey-roasted nuts and yoghurt cake from Cindy (first-year, Hong Kong) and me! Most unfortunately, there wasn't enough gelatin in the (idiot-proof, sigh) cake, so it fell apart. Oops! Haha anyway, the point of this was to show just how much sinful stuff I've had in the past 2 days! I bet my full-moon face is a million times rounder, and that the seams of my clothes (maybe they'll start with the buttons) will start popping one by one. D:
Okay whatever, I shall stop thinking about it. (: Basically this is how I spend the bulk of my Friday and Saturday nights - eating, talking, eating, talking, watching the occassional movie etc! :D Oh yeah, and I bake quite often too! (With Toni, Ami, Cindy and Dorka (first-year, Hungary)) Most unfortunately, as Toni puts it, we can only do the simple recipes, and half the time, the outcome is quite embarassing haha! I am most definitely not casalinga (housewife) material heh. Ooh next week is long weekend! I'm going to Brussels with 11 others - looks set to be exciting! (: Belgium chocolate, here I come! (Haha see, food again)
For now though, I really need to get back to Physics lab report, Italian homework (this takes FOREVER! Did I mention how I think I'm the stupidest in my class?! Oh crap, and we have a test on prepositions tomorrow) and reading the remaining half of Dorian Gray for English tomorrow. Oh yeah, and collect my laundry from Scholz soon (: (I love it when I hang up my laundry - I feel so domestic and In Control!)
Will post a longer and more meaningful post soon! (: Take care friends!

Hmm I really should update more. Yup so here I am, with a short update!
Haha this is very amusing trivia. I've just realised that I performed this super simplistic and easy piano piece on a Fazioli, which happens to be a very high-class and expensive piano, so I heard? The piece probably was an utter disgrace to the piano (and also to my supposed many years' worth of piano-playing)! :O Okay this is not very funny, but I was super amused when I heard it!
In case you were wondering why I decided to go and perform a piano piece, it isn't because I found my inner Bach and decided to take music for the IBs or something haha! 2 weeks ago, we had Asian Week, and so the asians had to plan a week full of activities, culminating in a show! So we had things like fashion show (where I wore my cheapo qipao haha), cultural session (name-writing, origami, meditation, chopstick-using), taster session (I actually fried char kway teow! Which didn't taste at all like char kway teow, but people still liked it! (: They must have been really hungry), tea session, movie screenings (where I got to make use of my cheapo, as usual, I Not Stupid - people actually liked it okay! Some people even want to borrow the DVD :D Now I have to go and find out where the DVD is), ghost night etc. Yup then Cindy (from Hong Kong - she played the flute!) and I decided to perform this nice Hayao Miyazaki Japanese song thing! The only problem was that it sounded very simplistic oops, so it must have been a horrible disgrace to the Fazioli. Ah well. OH and guess what! Now I can dance Indonesian dance, Tibet dance and Cambodian dance! :D Fine they weren't like real dance-y dances, except for the Tibet one, during which I was hopelessly clumsy and couldn't help laughing to myself, because the swishy arms and pose-like-a-bird thing was really very amusing! Hmm and for the Singapore segment of the show, my seconda, Esme (from Malaysia) and I did a Singapore and Malaysia skit thing! (: (because we cannot sing any of the National Day songs properly and in tune oops!)
Heh okay enough about Asian Week. OH I have to talk about my wonderful domestic skills! :D I can now bake a decent chocolate cake, which I did for tutorial brunch yesterday! (Toni's Bulgarian recipe! Well, apparently it isn't Bulgarian, it's just a chocolate cake recipe written in Bulgarian. Anyhow, it's really good! Yay!) Yup and yesterday, Amika (Japanese first-year), Toni (Bulgarian first-year) and I made pumpkin pudding and pumpkin soup! :D Yay triumph in the kitchen, and restoration of my reputation! (Haha, in the first week or so, it was Zoe's (Hong Kong second-year) birthday, so Cindy, Earth (Thai first-year) and I decided to bake her a cake! It was supposed to be a chocolate cake, but ended up tasting like chocolate potato -.- We decided that it was the fault of the recipe :D Omg so malu please! We tried to pass it off as an Asian kueh, but unfortunately failed, sigh.
Ahh I don't know what to write, though I haven't updated in so long and should have a lot to say. Well actually, I do have a lot to say, but don't know how to organise it! Okay fine I shall leave this entry like that. Have to study italian! Ahhh. We have a test on Thursday, faints. Will update soon! Pinky promise! (:
Oh wait! I have to say this cos I'm sooo proud of myself! One day, when I was walking from Ples to I-forgot-where, this car slowed down beside me, and the driver started asking me for directions! Just as I was about to say "Non parlo Italiano", my favourite phrase (it's the most useful too), I recognised one word in the sentence - Chiesa! Which means church, I think. I figured that he was asking for directions to the church (hopefully he was), and so I directed him there! :D Yay! I'm quite sure I understood him correctly, because, 5 mins after he left, I vaguely recognised the sentence structure and understood what he was talking about oops! :P
Haha okay I really need to go now. Ciao!

CIAO FROM ITALIA! (: In case all of you were worrying about a missing Joyce, here’s to tell you that I didn’t get lost anywhere (clap hands please!), and made it in one piece, complete with super heavy luggage, to Duino! Haha, the reason for no update was that I had no idea how to set up the internet connection, as with all my internet-hungry co-years in Ples (the residence that I reside in). It also helps that Ples is girls-only, so there are no guys to help set it up (a sad stereotype that I’ve resigned myself to, after having attempted to be Little-Miss-DIY-and-don’t-rely-on-guys for awhile haha). Because I am mega technology genius (haha, cue eye-rolling), I have FOUND OUT WHY I CAN’T ACCESS THE INTERNET! The internet cable that I brought from Singapore isn’t actually an internet cable (goodness knows what it is). -faints- Anyway, this sort of documents all that has happened so far (: Please appreciate its great length (something which probably won’t appear on this LJ ever again)! Travelling :O Through which I discovered that I really don’t like the process of travelling. I like getting to my destination, but definitely not the travelling, faints. Especially if it’s a long travel! (To think I used to like plane rides so much) First, I took a 7-hour plane ride to Dubai, where I spent about 5 super boring hours walking around the airport, which isn’t exactly the most interesting place to be. Oh! But there was Dunkin’ Donuts there, so I had my first Dunkin’ Donut, which was too sweet and not very nice. Anyway, after that, I met Uny, my second-year from Hong Kong, and we travelled to Venice (6 and a half hours by plane faints), where we met Stefano and Alessio from Italy, took a bus to the train station, took a train to Monfalcone, then took a bus to the college. I was feeling super guilty and malu from Venice airport onwards, because my luggage was really very heavy, and DuoDuo and DaDa (my muscles) decided to go to sleep (jet lag?), so I couldn’t carry my own luggage! In the end, the guys had to help me carry it up and down the staircase, and up and down the train and all. (The lousy train station had no lifts or escalators, only staircases?!) Oops. They were really nice about it, but still... Oh anyway, I didn’t really manage to make use of the in-flight entertainment! I want to cry. I only managed to watch Kungfu Panda, after which I went to sleep, ate, then slept, ate etc. The good thing about my piggish travelling ways is that I totally didn’t get jet lag, which is good! :D Okay, because doing this day by day will probably take forever, and challenges my not-quite-there memory, I shall describe things according to category, which will probably be much clearer and faster as well (: The Place! Duino is a little village-y place in Trieste, which really agrees with me! The weather is much cooler than in Singapore in the mornings and evenings (there’s a lot of wind, and I heard it’ll get much windier when the Bora, this super cold Siberian wind, comes), and the afternoon is just like Singapore, so I’m quite comfortable with it (though lots of people complain that it’s super hot, and that they can’t sleep). Duino isn’t drop-dead gorgeous or super photogenic or anything, but I think it’s really pretty, probably because of its small village charm, which is really hard to describe. Autumn is coming soon I think (my secondi say it’ll turn cold in about a month?), and the trees are slowly starting to change colour. I must remember to take pictures (which would be a bit weird - just picture yourself taking lots of photos of the RJ physical environment -.-) and post them here (if I know how to), or on Facebook (which I should know how to, because Sharon left me like a dummy’s guide to posting photos on Facebook haha). The residents of Duino are really friendly too! They’re super smiley and “Ciao!” us every time we walk past. I’m slowly getting my direction sense right, and can find my way around, so that’s good! (Haha I remember there was one day when Cindy, my co-year from Hong Kong, and I nearly walked into this woman’s house instead of the office building oops, and she was quite nice about it). On the whole, I really like Duino, so yay! :D The only issue I have with Duino is the abundant mosquito population :O But they should go away soon, once the weather gets colder, something which everyone is looking forward to. The People Everyone here is really friendly, and conversation topics are slowly getting more abundant (heehee, beyond the mosquitoes and the gradually disappearing heat) as school gradually starts (it’s the 3rd day of lessons today). We’ve only been here for slightly more than a week, so everyone’s still trying to get a feel of each other. “Getting to know you” is a much faster process than back home though, because this is quite a closed community, so things tend to happen a lot faster. Socialising was a bit weird at first, but it’s getting much better now! School We’re only into the third day of lessons, so I can’t quite comment a lot about it yet. Oh this is my subject combination for now: Higher Level: English A1, Physics, Chemistry, Math Standard Level: Economics, Italian B Yup but I’m probably going to move my English A1 (basically literature – poetry, and a lot of books) down to standard, and Economics up to higher because I am insecure with literature (after a not-so-pleasant secondary school experience oops!) Anyway, I enjoy the humans lessons here a lot! English A1 was very much better than I expected! I actually sort of understood the poems we went through in class, which made me feel good :D It was very interesting as well, the way we went through the poem, so yay! Ah it’s actually quite hard to describe, but that feeling of satisfaction was ... wow! Better than knowing how to do all the Physics questions for the whole tutorial?! Economics is pretty dynamic as well, and it helps that we have case studies from all over the world, so it’s quite interesting. Today, in our introductory Economics lesson, Malcolm (here we call our teachers by their first names, something which I surprisingly adjusted to very quickly) made us talk a bit about our respective economies, and it was cool listening to so many different accounts! (But on the whole it sounded a bit gloomy, oops) For now, my favourite lesson is Italian B! :D Forgive me while I gush a bit about it. Basically, Italian here is taught entirely in slow-motion Italian, as well as sign language and pictorial aids :D It’s actually quite fun trying to decipher what the respective sentences mean, and learn the various grammatical structures through trial and error. At least it helps with the memory-work! Oh and it’s annoying how Singapore is an exception in the Italian language! Like when I want to use the word “Singapore” in a sentence, it’s different from the general grammatical pattern other countries use! -.- Yup besides these, the science and math classes are slightly slow-moving for now, but I was told they pick up soon. :O Food No, we do not get nice Italian food like what you see on TV. ): Mensa (canteen) food is actually much nicer than what I imagined (from the various accounts I heard), but gets a bit repetitive (e.g. we have pasta every single day!). I miss cooked vegetables a lot! It’s not just me, most of my co-years from Asia do as well, and Amika (from Japan) even started dreaming about Japanese food haha! Oh and Yoko (second-year from Japan) even has a picture of this Japanese tempura thing as her desktop background. :D We have quite a lot of food in our residences as well! There’s a lot of milk, cereal (bran flakes, cornflakes, happy flakes (?!) muesli-fruit things, chocolate rice crispies that don’t taste of chocolate), fresh bread (like bakery bread) everyday, yoghurt (yumyum) etc, so much so that I’m confirm chop guarantee going to get very fat. It’s a small consolation that my favourite breakfast so far is the muesli-fruit things, so maybe I won’t expand so much? :P But Mensa food comes in huge portions, and is full of carbohydrates. Like Cindy and Amika say, hopefully we’ll still be able to fit through the Pala wall (which is this wall we have to squeeze through in order to get to one of the largest residences, Pala) by the end of the year. Oh I haven’t mentioned yet – I don’t live in Pala. I live in Ples, a relatively small girls-only residence which is opposite the police station (haha), and above many of the classrooms, so I can sleep for about 5 minutes more! Yay :D Activities Here, we have to do at least one physical activity, creative activity, college service and social service! (: For physical activity, I’ve just submitted my choice form and have put kayaking as my first choice. Total surfer dude-ness! The kayaking taster session was quite cool (picture the nice Adriatic sea that we’re kayaking in), and the instructor said we could even go to other places like Slovenia, where it is scenic and the river water is so pure we can drink it from our kayaks! :D I put sailing as my second choice, because it needs more brain haha, and is much less of an exercise (then I am SURE to expand). Clap hands! (: Creative activity (something like performing arts) taster sessions start tomorrow – I’m going for choir, ceramics (pottery!) and music lessons (maybe I’ll learn to play the guitar or something). Exciting! I probably will end up joining the choir though, and may do either ceramics or music lessons as additional activities. Or road hockey, but I doubt it, because that means a lot of exercise haha! For social service, I’m going to visit a home for the disabled in Monfalcone – it sounds really meaningful so I can’t wait to start! I want to do additional social service too! We only start in about 2 weeks though. Yup and for college service, I’m helping Sandy at the English Department, with Cindy, Mira (super nice second-year from Bulgaria) and er someone else (I don’t know who yet). We start next week I think. Oh apart from all these, Asian Week is coming up soon I think! It’s pretty exciting, and there’s lots of work to be done in terms of organisation. And we’re going to cook! :O Yup okay, that’s all I have to say, and wow this post is super duper long! I really miss all of you back home! ): Take care and jiayou with promos and PW and everything okay! Must study hard! :D Haha, my laptop doesn’t have MSN oops, and I’m still trying to install it (but for some strange reason, it fails!). After I’m done, I must go online and catch up with people for a short while! Short while, because everyone needs to study haha. Much love friends! <3

I was going to come here and add a sensible entry (exercise the reflexive self, yes?) about the many things that have happened over the past few weeks, but have just decided that Bojangles the Brain is not in the right mood for this (: So, I shall set aside the sensible entry for now, and instead present to you: Shopping/Packing With Joyce! (aka, what I've been trying to do for the past few days).
I am a very bad shopper. I am so bad that coming home with one non-NTUC-related (I really like walking supermarkets!) purchase is considered very very good and productive. Maybe this is because the inner sloth, inner auntie and inner cheapo totally wins the inner shopper (assuming it exists) and the inner, er, task fulfiller? (because I really really need to finish shopping!) Anyway, today, I WAS SUPER X10000000 PRODUCTIVE :D AND THIS MAKES MY DAY AND NIGHT AND MAYBE EVEN TOMORROW! I HAVE FINISHED GETTING NEARLY EVERYTHING ON MY SHOPPING LIST. EVERYBODY CLAP HANDS NOW! :D :D :D
Best purchase of the day: I NOT STUPID! (which I have to get for Asian Week, which is basically a week wherein the Asians showcase their individual [and collective] local cultures through many different activities, such as taster sessions! Um at least, that's what I think it's supposed to be haha) At first, I expected to pay about $10+ for the DVD, since most of them are priced around that range. Then, I walked into Video EZY, which was holding this super mega sale, so the box said $9.90! Yay then, as expected, I was very happy. Just as I was smiling cheesily at the box, I turned my head to the left, and saw this poster, which basically said there was $4.30 off all local films in celebration of national day! SO MY I NOT STUPID COST $5.60 IN THE END (: So I smiled like a super loony all the way back from the cashier. Oh dear, I realise I sound very auntie. Or very cheapo. Possibly both. Oops! Yup I got all the Asian Week stuff as well! I bought lanterns (haha, er, local decoration?), chopsticks, and a lot of food premixes like Laksa, Mee Rebus and Chicken Rice (: (If not for them, I think our local food will totally be represented as Maggi Mee, or worse, peanuts, given my superb culinary skills)
Anyway, the huge mega-headache is the packing ): My big suitcase really has no more space! I don't think it can close properly! AND I still have things-a-many to put inside! AND there's still the horrid weight limit to worry about (haha, and this is after nice Emirates gave extra baggage allowance, faints) How now colour-of-chinchow cow?! (see this rhymes more!) Yup, so, as you can imagine, my once-neat (okay lah, dream on) once reasonably tidy room now looks like a disaster, with the randomest of things strewn all over my table, suitcases (and weighing machine, so I won't go over the limit and pay $109 per kg) occupying the entire area in front of my clothes cupboard (so much so that the door can't open properly oops), encircled by random plastic bags and miscellaneous items like biscuits, kaya, soap etc. Oh no and did I mention? I think there is a huge silverfish in my suitcase of clothes! :O I saw it on a shirt, tried to squish it but missed, and subsequently found it missing! I BET IT IS AMONG MY CLOTHES EWWW. Haha, but I'm too lazy to take every piece of clothing out to check for signs of silverfish -.- Hopefully it doesn't reproduce inside! I must remember to check before I wear any piece of clothing from inside there.
Okay enough gushing/ranting about shopping and packing, I will go and sleep nownownow. Good night friends! :D
